It’s time for our favourite video game to come into ‘reel’ life.

After Novels and Short Stories, it's time for video games to make more money.

We have already witnessed some of our most favourite video games on the big screen. ‘Detective Pikachu’, ‘Sonic HedgeHog’, ‘Angry Birds’, and such other light-hearted games have been released as animated movies in the last few years. Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ is also an adaptation of the action-adventure video game franchise with the same name.

Here are some of the eagerly anticipated video games that will be turning up on our OTT platforms very soon :

The Last Of Us :

The Last Of Us is a post-apocalyptic survival game which was released in the year 2013 and was created by Naughty Dog and produced by Sony. Recently, HBO announced that it will be making a limited TV series based on the critically-acclaimed video game. The project gained more attention when HBO revealed that Pedro Pascal will be playing the lead role of Joel and Bella Ramsay will be playing the key character role of Ellie. It is a coincidence or not but both the actors have been part of HBO’s biggest hit TV series ‘Game Of Thrones’.

The Last Of Us follows the lead character Joel, a smuggler, on his journey to chaperone a 14-year-old girl, Ellie, to a safe place. The relationship between them evolves and Joel soon realises Ellie is no normal girl. She might be the key to solve all the problems. The story will be written and produced by Craig Mazin, the director of the hit limited HBO series ‘Chernobyl’. Neil Druckmann, who is also the writer of the video game, will assist Craig. The possible release date of the series is yet to be announced.

It’s not only The Last Of Us creating the buzz, there are also a number of other video games which will be turned into limited TV series.

‘Borderlands’ is a first-person role-playing shooting game, created by GearBox Software. It will be produced by Lionsgate and it will star big names like Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, James Lee Curtis and others.

‘Mortal Kombat’ is also being planned to be converted into a TV series.

Other honourable mentions of video games that might appear on the big screen or the OTT platforms are Minecraft, Sleeping Dogs, The Division and Uncharted.
